Hi everybody today is international Literacy day and it is important that we all take a moment to remember how important the day is Since 1967, International Literacy Day (ILD) celebrations have taken place annually around the world to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society. Despite progress made, literacy challenges persist with at least 773 million young people and adults lacking basic literacy skills today.
Over the course of the week, the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science will promote the Strategy and the Adult Literacy for Life campaign via their social media channels, including videos, infographics, and links to the Strategy document itself. In addition, we are delighted to have ready for the launch the one-stop-shop website –www.adultliteracyforlife.ie; e-versions of the assets will be available on the page. It would be great if you could share the available assets via your own social media channels to help drive awareness of the campaign.
